Small Mountain Town Wedding | Silver Plume Real Wedding

Colorado Wedding

From the beginning, finding the perfect wedding venue was littered with too many phrases such as “you must use our select vendors” and “you must be out by 10pm or else”, making the experience feel sterile, and transactional.

I had heard of a small, mountain-town cocktail bar, and we soon took a drive to see if this Pinterest-worthy spot really existed. As we drove into Silver Plume, it was love at first sight. It seemed unreal how a town, still preserved to its nearly original form, could be just steps away from I-70 without a tourist in sight. It was as though time had stopped in this special place. After arriving at Bread Bar, we were greeted by one of the owners, Rob, who made us feel immediately at home. It didn’t take more than a few seconds to realize this was the one. It also didn’t hurt that they served amazing cocktails.

I had envisioned a day that had no banquet hall in site, and was filled with the natural beauty that already existed. I wanted it to be a unique experience and I wanted people to be as in awe of this place as we were. There were no set colors or themes; Bread Bar and Silver Plume were their own inspiration.

As time went by, and more amazing people got involved, it went from a simple wedding, to something so special and forever near to our hearts. From our flowers, that were done by a good friend, Kate Helmick, and our band, Bada Boom Brass Band, who is our favorite local band and kindly calls us their ‘OG fans’, to our photographer, Holly, who understood our laid-back nature and produced perfectly-candid memories, everyone involved was so much more than just a vendor.

It ended up being a cold, rainy day, but I like to think that it added to the mystique of the town, and brought our guests together, who kindly endured the rain to see us say ‘I do.’
